1.Please
submit team applications only. Select one student member to be the
team contact for notifications and any questions that we may have.
2.Only complete applications will be considered. This means a team picture, roster,
and a letter from the team advisor must be included and all application
questions
must be answered satisfactorily.
3.Entries are to be postmarked before the deadline indicated. Late entries
will not be considered.
4.This contest is open to middle school and high school teams only.
5.All award recipients are expected to comply with all the rules and
regulations set forth for the ROV Design Competition by MATE.
6.Award recipients are also expected to submit a bi-monthly update on
their progress to be posted on the CUS web site. This update is
expected to be complete with pictures. The team will also be
expected to review and evaluate the goals they set forth in their
application on a bi-monthly basis. They will need to indicate whether
these goals have been met or not, any new goals the team may
have set, and any improvements the team would like to make. A
form will be provided on line for the goal evaluation and progress
updates under "Evaluation".
7.Upon award notification, recipients will be expected to submit a
consent form signed by themselves and parents or legal guardians if
they are under 18 years of age allowing their names and pictures to
be posted on the CUS web site. This consent form must be received from
all members before we can post the updates online.
8.Award recipients are also required to become published in either
school, local, or professional printed media such as newspaper or
magazine. Recipients will be expected to submit a copy of the
article(s) they were published in for use on the CUS web site. Articles
written by the team for publication in an underwater magazine or journal
are preferred, but not required. Articles written by team mentors or
advisors will not be accepted.
9.The type of awards received will be dependent on several factors
including number of applications submitted, need for award, and the
quality of the application and the placement it receives when being
reviewed.
10.Awards may include, but are not limited to free products such as
cameras and lights or discounted products. The amount of the
discount depends on the same factors as listed above.
11. The recipients are expected to reach completion and compete in the
ROV Design competition. Recipients who do not reach completion
may be expected to return parts that were given at no cost.
12.
This is a scholarship for STUDENTS. We appreciate the need for advisor
involvement, but prefer to have as little contact as possible with the
adults involved. Our goal is to promote student learning and we want
all applications and updates to be written and submitted by students.
If we have any indication that advisors are doing this work, the team
will be disqualified.
13.
Teams are expected to meet all update deadlines on time. Reminders will
be sent out no less than 2 days before an update is due. If there is
a problem and an update is going to be late, teams need to send an e-mail
at least 24 hours in advance to notify us of the late update. If a late
update is recieved with no notification, the team will be disqualified.
14.
Teams are expected to send at least 4 updates before they will receive
their awards. If a team has a valid reason. like a regional competition,
for requesting parts early, they must submit a request in writing as
to what the reason is and the scholarship committee will evaluate the
request.
